Mauri Konell is the founder of Girls EmPOWERment Project. She helps young girls and empowers them through fitness, meditation, yoga, and journaling. When she herself was a young girl, she felt very different because of her body, hair, voice, etc. She would never participate in sports because she was afraid of failing. She struggled with an eating disorder and substance abuse. Then, Mauri started helping herself. She would excersise because she realized that muscular girls were pretty too. She originally wanted to become a therapist to help girls like her, but she didn't want to feel like she was the doctor and they were the patient. That is how Girls EmPOWERment project was started. |

My Power of One Exhibit
My Exhibit I decided to represent the amazing things Mauri does with the model you see here. It shows a circle of girls including Mauri who are all different in the center of all the planets. This represents the strength the girls hold inside themselves, and them being strong enough to change society's views on girls and women. Scroll down to learn about my exhibit and Mauri.
